COMPARATIVE BIOECOLOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF Chthamalus malayensis (BARNACLES) FOUND AT SANDSPIT AND HAWKSBAY BEACHES, KARACHI

Description: This study aims to compare the bioecological characteristics of Chthamalus malayensis populations inhabiting Sandspit and Hawksbay beaches along the Karachi coast, Pakistan. Field surveys will be conducted to collect barnacle specimens, and various ecological parameters, including abundance, distribution, size, and species composition, will be recorded. Additionally, environmental factors such as water temperature, salinity, substrate type, and anthropogenic influences will be assessed to understand their effects on barnacle populations. The study will utilize both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the data and draw comparisons between the two beach sites

Socio-Economic Benefits: The findings will provide valuable insights into the ecological dynamics of barnacle populations in different coastal habitats and their responses to local environmental conditions. Furthermore, this research will contribute to the sustainable management of Karachi’s coastal areas, aligning with the objectives of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
