THE FOUNDER’S MESSAGE
AL HAJ MOULVI RAYAZUDDIN AHMED (Tamgha e Imtiaz)Al Haj Moulvi Rayazuddin Ahmed (T.I), a direct descendant of Hazrat Sheikh Saleem Uddin Chishty, was born in 1906 in the city of Taj Mahal, the city of intellectuals and poets. His early upbringing through parents and education instilled in him love for education inspite of being enslaved in government service.

Education has been unanimously regarded as the key factor in the development of personality of an individual, as well as that of a society and a nation. Any efforts put in education consequently lead to formidable behavioral changes. The first gift given to humanity by its creator, when first human being was created, was knowledge. Similarly Islamic religion tradition began with the command from the creator to read, contemplate and produce knowledge in order to serve the humanity.

This year is very special, has brought happiness and encouragement among all in the University as the President of Pakistan has conferred Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Al-Haj Moulvi Reyazuddin Ahmed in recognition of his hard and sincere efforts for the cause of education and especially for female population.
The history of development, across the globe, amply, demonstrates that education is the key condition for economic, social and political development. The human and social development in developing countries, establishes a direct relationship between female education.
Department of Biochemistry
INTRODUCTION
Established in 1998, the Department of Biochemistry at Jinnah University for Women has emerged as a beacon of excellence in both education and research. The department of Biochemistry proudly hosts a diverse and highly qualified faculty, including seven Ph.D. and three M.Phil. degree holders, who are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of biochemists and molecular biologists.

The aspiration is to become a global leader in Biochemistry education and research, empowering women to excel in the dynamic fields of life sciences.

The Department of Biochemistry at Jinnah University for Women is dedicated to providing a rigorous and inclusive learning environment that cultivates critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and a lifelong passion for Biochemistry. Through high-quality education and innovative research, the department addresses local and global challenges in health, the environment, and society. By leveraging faculty expertise and fostering a collaborative academic culture, it aims to enhance scientific knowledge, promote societal well-being, and prepare students for meaningful contributions in their fields.
Academic Programs:
The department offers a wide array of academic programs designed to cater to the needs of students at various levels of their educational journey. In addition to the core BS, MS, and Ph.D. programs in Biochemistry, the department has expanded its academic reach by offering BS and AD programs in Molecular Biology. These programs are meticulously structured to provide students with a robust foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the field, ensuring they are well-prepared for future challenges.

This holistic approach ensures that graduates are not only equipped for advanced studies in Biochemistry but are also prepared for successful careers in academia, industry, hospitals, and clinical laboratories.

Faculty research is at the forefront of scientific inquiry, encompassing a broad spectrum of areas, including Molecular Biochemistry, Genomics and Proteomics, Biotechnology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Neurochemistry, Bioinformatics, Enzymology, and Nutritional Biochemistry.
The Department of Biochemistry actively engages with an Industry Advisory Board and collaborates with various universities and research organizations. This network plays a crucial role in facilitating Internships and Capstone Projects for students, ensuring they gain valuable practical experience. Additionally, the department organizes training sessions and workshops in partnership with these collaborators to enhance the research skills and market readiness of students. These initiatives are designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications, preparing students for successful careers in the field of biochemistry.
State-of-the-Art Facilities:
The Department of Biochemistry at Jinnah University for Women is not only equipped with cutting-edge classrooms and laboratories, but it also boasts specialized research facilities. Among these is an exclusively designed Research Lab dedicated to MS and Ph.D. students, providing them with an environment tailored for advanced scientific inquiry and experimentation. In addition, the department features a fully equipped Molecular Biology and PCR Labs, a unique facility within the university, dedicated specifically to advanced biochemistry research. This facility is pivotal for molecular biology research, enabling precise DNA amplification and analysis, which are crucial for studies in genomics, diagnostics, and various other applications. The Department of Biochemistry also includes a modern Computer Lab with over 60 computers, supporting a wide range of computational needs for both research and education. This facility ensures that students and researchers have access to up-to-date technology for data analysis, bioinformatics, and other computational tasks integral to modern biochemistry research.
