CRICKET:
The University Sports Gala, held from 6th and 7th March, was a vibrant event filled with athletic enthusiasm and team spirit. Four teams from different faculties—Science, Arts, Business Administration (BBA), and Pharmacy—competed in various sports events, showcasing their talents and determination. The 2 days event brought together students and staff, fostering camaraderie and promoting a healthy, competitive spirit.

Overview:
In the semi-finals, *Team Science* faced *Team Arts* and delivered a dominant performance, securing a spot in the finals with a comfortable win. On the other side, *Team BBA* triumphed over *Team Pharmacy*, setting up a much-anticipated Science vs Pharmacy final.
The final match was intense, with both teams showing exceptional skills and determination. However, *Team Science* emerged victorious, chasing down the target 65 runs in 6 overs set by *Team Pharmacy* but Pharmacy could not made this target and Science won the match. Their all-round performance, led by key players in both batting and bowling,
Winning Team:
The Science team emerged as the champions of the tournament after a thrilling series of matches. In the final, delivering a dominant performance. Science set a competitive total with excellent batting, followed by a disciplined bowling attack that restricted Pharmacy from reaching the target and they were crowned the champions of the tournament.
Prize Distribution:
The tournament concluded with a prize-giving ceremony, where the Science team captain was awarded the trophy, and individual awards were distributed for the best batsman, bowler, and fielder.Momina Akbar achieved player of the tournament award for her excellent batting and bowling skills. Team Science accumulated the highest points across all events, making them the champions of the University Sports Gala 2024. They received the championship trophy amidst loud cheers from their supporters.
TUG OF WAR:
On 7th march 2024 Sports fiesta, a thrilling tug of war competition was organized by Jinnah University for women under the supervision of instructorAnila Khan, featuring four teams: Team Arts, Team Science, Team BBA, and Team Pharmacy. The event aimed to promote teamwork, camaraderie, and healthy competition among students.
Match Breakdown
First Round: Team Science vs. Team Pharmacy
The competition commenced with Team Science (under the captaincy of ummehani) facing off against Team Pharmacy (under the captaincy of Rukhsaar). The atmosphere was electric as both teams showcased their strength and determination. Ultimately, Team Science emerged victorious, securing their place in the next round.
Result:
- Winner: Team Science
Second Round: Team Arts vs. Team BBA
In the second round, Team Arts (under the captaincy of Maha khan zai) took on Team BBA (under the captaincy of Alizeh khan). Both teams put forth an impressive display of teamwork and strategy. However, Team Arts demonstrated superior coordination and strength, winning the round and advancing to the finals.
Result:

Final Round: Team Arts vs. Team Science
The final round featured a highly anticipated showdown between the finalists, Team Arts and Team Science. The competition was fierce, with both teams giving their all.
First Match: Team Arts showcased exceptional teamwork and resilience, winning decisively.
Second Match: In a repeat performance, Team Arts maintained their momentum, winning again and securing the championship.

TAEKWONDO POWER AND PRECISION: A MASTERCLASS IN SKILL AND STRENGTH

On March 6, 2024, The Taekwondo demonstration event held at Jinnah University for women, Karachi left the audience captivated by the combination of discipline, agility, and power. The event was a showcase of the traditional Korean martial art, with each program meticulously designed to highlight the core techniques and skills that define Taekwondo. The event began with an introduction to fundamental movements before escalating into more dynamic and dramatic displays of strength and precision.
1. Opening: blocking and Poomsae 3
The demonstration opened with Blocking and Poomsae 3. These initial forms set the tone for the event, showcasing the disciplined flow of movements and the balance between mind and body that Taekwondo requires. Each stance, block, and strike was executed with sharp precision, offering the audience a glimpse of the art’s complexity. The poomsae performed by the Captain of the team Maha khan zaiand Team member AishamusharrafThe poomsae forms, often referred to as the “blueprint” of Taekwondo, demonstrated not only the physical discipline but also the mental focus inherent in the sport.
2. Program 1: Punch Breaking
The first individual demonstration was a stunning display of punch breaking which is performed by Nazneennoorani, Manahilirfan, Umme Rubab The performer focused on breaking boards with a single powerful punch, a testament to the mastery of energy and power generation. Each strike resonated through the audience, as boards shattered on impact, illustrating the controlled force behind each movement. The crispness of each punch highlighted the practitioner’s impeccable form and years of dedicated training.
3. Program 2: Hand Knife Breaking
Next came the hand knife breaking demonstration which is performed by Maria nazakat,Areeshawahid, Zarmeen Chaudhary, Ibtesam. This technique requires the use of the side of the hand, mimicking a blade in a precise chopping motion. The breaker showed incredible focus as he approached the boards, slicing through them effortlessly. This segment underscored the importance of hand conditioning in Taekwondo, and the power that can be generated through careful body mechanics and controlled breathing.
4. Program 3: Drop Kick Breaking
The audience was treated to an exhilarating spectacle in drop kick breaking which is performed by Fatima Pervez, Hala Kamran, Ammarasabir. This dynamic technique involved a combination of aerial acrobatics and raw power. The performer launched themselves into the air and, with a well-timed kick, broke boards suspended at varying heights. The flawless execution and seamless transitions from ground to air captivated the audience, showcasing the importance of timing, agility, and control in mastering aerial techniques.
5. Program 4: Front Jump Kick Breaking
The fourth demonstration took things even higher literally with the front jump kick breaking which is performed by Maha khan zai, Syedahania, Manal Siddiqui. The performer exhibited both strength and precision, leaping into the air to break boards positioned at head height. Each kick was executed with lightning speed and pinpoint accuracy, demonstrating the height and agility that only a seasoned martial artist could achieve. The crowd roared as boards splintered, adding to the excitement of the moment.
6. Program 5: Sparring Match
In this segment, the audience witnessed the combative side of Taekwondo. Two fightersC. Maha khan zaiand Aisha musharraf faced off in a sparring match that combined both offensive and defensive techniques. The fighters moved with speed and fluidity, dodging attacks and countering with precise kicks and punches. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the fighters showcased not only their physical prowess but also their mental acuity, reading their opponent’s moves in advance and reacting swiftly.

7. Program 6: Mix High Kick Breaking
The next demonstration involved a mix of high kick breaking which is performed by C.Maha khan zai, combining multiple kicking techniques to break boards at various heights. This was a masterclass in footwork and flexibility, as the performer seamlessly transitioned between different kicking styles. The explosive power behind each kick was evident as the boards shattered in rapid succession. This program showcased the diverse range of kicks that Taekwondo practitioners must master and highlighted the versatility of the martial art.

The next demonstration involved a train of middle kick breaking which is performed by whole team, the explosive power behind each kick was evident as the boards shattered in rapid succession.
9. Program 7: Fire glass Breaking
The grand finale of the event was the highly anticipated fire mirror breaking which is performed by Coach Samiazafar khan and Captain Maha khan zai. The performer took on the challenge of breaking glass with flames adding to the intensity. This dramatic display was not only a test of physical strength but also of mental focus, as the breaker had to stay calm under the pressure of fire and mirrors reflecting their every move. With a powerful strike, the boards and mirrors shattered, sending a wave of awe and applause through the crowd. The combination of danger, skill, and showmanship made this the highlight of the evening.
The Taekwondo demonstration was an outstanding display of martial arts prowess, precision, and mental discipline. Each program highlighted a different aspect of Taekwondo, from basic forms to high-level breaking techniques, sparring, and finally, a dramatic conclusion with the fire mirror breaking.
The event left a lasting impression on the audience, showcasing the beauty, power, and discipline that Taekwondo embodies. It was not only a demonstration of physical skill but a testament to the dedication and artistry that Taekwondo practitioners bring to their craft.

Awards Ceremony
At the conclusion of the matches, an awards ceremony was held. Team Arts was presented with the winning trophy, celebrating their outstanding performance and teamwork. Team Science received the runner-up trophy, acknowledging their commendable effort throughout the competition.
The tug of war match was a resounding success, highlighting the spirit of competition and unity among the students. The event not only fostered teamwork but also created lasting memories for all participants. Congratulations to Team Arts on their victory and to Team Science for their impressive run!
Jinnah University for Women organized Sports Fiesta 2024 in March, maintaining its ritual or arranging sports for its students. Sports Fiesta is one of the major activities that help students get fresh and fit again to continue their studies.
All the students were divided among four faculties Pharmacy, BBA, Social Science, and Science. Students used different colored flags to represent their faculties.
Sports fiesta consisted of six major games, including 3 outdoors ; Throw ball, cricket and Tug Of War and 3 indoor games, scrabble, chess, and table tennis and splendid representation of taekwondo.
Coming to the main attention of the audience, the Throw ball match, which was held among four faculties and the toss, was done to choose the sequence of the match. Each team consisted of 7 players and 2 extra players. The first match was between BBA and Social Science, which was won by BBA, and the second was just after that was among Science and Social Science, and again, social science lost this match. The third match held between BBA and Pharmacy and BBA clean sweeped pharmacy very easily and from here Pharmacy gave walkout to Science and Social science. After these breath-taking matches, the two finalists were BBA and Science.
The other day final was organised, and the ground was cheering with loud noises of both team’s supporters, and it was such a critical match that no one could predict the results. Science being the champion and BBA fighting to make a good impression for the first time were fighting against each other and with sad faces of BBA supporters and loud cheering’s of Science team this tournament came to and end. Science won the champions title, and BBA set their position as runner-up, eliminating two other teams.
These events for sure bring motivation and freshness among students and are much needed events for which students wait whole year. This two day event ended with the award distribution ceremony held at Uzair Auditorium, Jinnah University for Women by our we own Miss WaniaWajihuddin, Student Advisor Head.
