9th Al-Zarooni Student Olympics Games (19th – 30th September 2025)

Introduction

The 9th Al-Zarooni Student Olympics Games, held from 19th September to 30th September 2025, brought together students from hundreds of educational institutions to compete in a wide range of sporting activities. The event featured 24 different games, including table tennis, throwball, basketball, badminton, and many others. With participants divided into categories ranging from Classes 4–5, Classes 6–8, O Levels, A Levels, and University (open category), the competition provided a vibrant platform for young athletes to display their talent, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Jinnah University for Women (JUW) proudly participated in the University category of this mega event, fielding multiple teams and individual players. Our students represented the university in table tennis, throwball, and badminton.

JUW sent the following teams and players to the Student Olympics:

●     Table Tennis (2 Teams – 3 students each):

  • Team A: Urooj Fatima (IR), Sumayyah Jalal (Psychology), Malika Hashmat (Pharmacy)
  • Team B: Dua Arshad, Armeen Shahid, Areeba Farooq (all from Commerce Department)
  • Badminton (1 Individual): One student represented JUW in the singles
  • Throwball (1 Team): A dedicated team of JUW students participated in the throwball

All participants displayed high levels of enthusiasm and commitment throughout the tournament.

Achievements and Results

The most remarkable success for JUW came from the table tennis event, where both of our teams showcased outstanding performance and resilience against tough competition.

●     Table Tennis – Team A (Winners):

The team comprising Urooj Fatima (IR), Sumayyah Jalal (Psychology), and Malika Hashmat (Pharmacy) emerged victorious, securing the 1st Position in the University category. Their skill, coordination, and consistent performance led them to win the championship trophy.

●     Table Tennis – Team B (Runners-up):

The second team, consisting of Dua Arshad, Armeen Shahid, and Areeba Farooq from the Commerce Department, finished as Runners-up, securing the runners-up trophy for JUW.

Together, the two teams brought home two prestigious trophies in table tennis, making JUW’s participation a resounding success.

●     Badminton & Throwball:

While our student in badminton and the JUW throwball team could not secure a podium finish, their dedication and competitive spirit were commendable. Their performance contributed to the overall spirit of the games and provided valuable experience for future tournaments.

Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony was held on 1st October 2025, marking the conclusion of the 9th Al-Zarooni Student Olympics Games. It was a moment of pride for Jinnah University for Women as our representatives received two trophies in table tennis on stage. The achievement highlighted the university’s commitment not only to academic excellence but also to co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Conclusion

Jinnah University for Women’s participation in the 9th Al-Zarooni Student Olympics Games was a proud moment, marked by two table tennis trophies and spirited performances in other games. The event highlighted the talent and determination of JUW students. The university remains committed to promoting both academics and athletics for holistic student growth.
