Pre-Conference Workshops – JUW-ICSPA 2025

As part of JUW-ICSPA 2025, a series of pre-conference workshops were organized from 15 to 22 November 2025 by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jinnah University for Women. These workshops provided participants with hands-on learning, practical exposure, and expert guidance across diverse domains of pharmaceutical practice, research, and innovation. Each session was led by distinguished invited speakers and experienced institutional faculty, ensuring an enriching and skill-building experience for students and young professionals.

ASHP Residency Insights – Career Pathway towards Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy

15 November 2025 – Department of Pharmacy Practice
This workshop introduced participants to the ASHP residency framework, covering PGY-1 and PGY-2 structures, eligibility requirements, and essential competencies for clinical pharmacy practice. Expert discussions helped students understand global residency pathways, application strategies, and the evolving role of pharmacists in patient-centered healthcare.

First Aid & Basic Life Support (BLS) Training

17 November 2025 – Department of Pharmacy Practice
Through hands-on demonstrations and guided practice, participants learned critical emergency response skills, including scene assessment, immediate first aid interventions, and BLS techniques. Training focused on burn and fracture management, cardiac emergency identification, and hands-only CPR, empowering participants with lifesaving competencies.

Unlocking the Science of Antioxidants: A Hands-On Exploration

19 November 2025 – Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
This workshop provided foundational knowledge on antioxidant mechanisms and commonly used assays. Participants performed DPPH and ABTS assays, gaining practical skills in reagent preparation, spectrophotometric analysis, and scientific data recording. The session strengthened students’ research capabilities in analytical and biochemical studies.

HPLC Method Validation: Transforming Data into Quality

20 November 2025 – Department of Pharmaceutics
Participants were introduced to key HPLC method validation parameters including accuracy, precision, linearity, specificity, and robustness. The workshop emphasized the importance of validated analytical methods in generating reliable pharmaceutical data and maintaining regulatory compliance.

From Theory to Practice: Franz Diffusion Cell in Drug Delivery Research

20 November 2025 – Department of Pharmaceutics
This session offered hands-on exposure to the Franz Diffusion Cell (FDC) system, focusing on topical and transdermal drug delivery evaluation. Participants learned membrane selection, system assembly, sampling techniques, and experimental control, gaining insight into diffusion principles and formulation performance testing.

Precision in Histology: Hands-On Microtome Training

21 November 2025 – Department of Pharmacognosy
This practical workshop guided participants through essential histopathology techniques including tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide examination. Attendees gained real-time experience in producing high-quality histological sections, enhancing their understanding of diagnostic and research workflows.

Computer-Aided Strategies for Drug Design and In-Silico Therapeutic Innovation

22 November 2025 – Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Focused on modern computational drug discovery, this workshop introduced molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations using tools such as AutoDock Vina, Discovery Studio Visualizer, and IMODS. Participants practiced ligand and receptor preparation, docking setup, result interpretation, and MD trajectory analysis.

These pre-conference workshops enriched participants with practical skills, technical proficiency, and research insight, setting the stage for a highly engaging and impactful JUW-ICSPA 2025 conference.
